Planning Your San Diego Portrait Session: The Complete FAQ

Do you require a deposit?

Yes. A non-refundable retainer of $175 and a signed contract are required to officially hold your date on my calendar

How do I book a session?

We work by appointment only to ensure every client receives my full attention, . You can begin the process by filling out the contact form on my website. We’ll schedule a brief discovery call to talk about your vision, wardrobe, and how you plan to display your portraits.

What should we wear?

Wardrobe is key to a timeless portrait, and we generally recommend:

  • Choose a color palette rather than everyone wearing the same outfit.
  •  Knits, lace, and linens add depth and look beautiful in print.
  •  These can date a photo quickly and distract from your family’s connection.

When will I view my images?

Galleries will be ready within 3 weeks from date of the session. We will schedule a reveal appointment where you will be able to choose your favorite images.

Do you provide digital files?

Our studio philosophy is centered on the belief that your memories deserve to live on your walls, not a hard drive. We specialize in providing tangible, heirloom-quality art products—from custom-framed wall portraits to heirloom albums. While the focus is on the physical artwork, we provide digital files to your corresponding print purchase.

Where are you located?

We serve the greater San Diego area. I offer sessions in my studio or at one of the beautiful outdoor locations our region is known for.

How far in advance should I book?

I recommend booking 2–4 weeks in advance for standard portraits and 2–3 months for peak seasons (like fall or graduation). If you have a specific date in mind, reach out as soon as possible!
